Blackmagic Design‘s new URSA Mini is small enough for handheld work, but offers professional features a film crew needs. Although it doesn’t have all the features of the URSA, the Mini uses the same sensors, core processing, battery processing and dual CFast 2.0 recording slots. The URSA Mini features the same 4K and 4.6K sensor options as URSA, and is compatible with the new Blackmagic URSA Viewfinder. It features frame rates up to 60 fps, and it has a bright 5-inch full HD touch screen that can articulate. Because there are two lens mounts and two sensor options, there are four URSA Mini flavors: URSA Mini 4K EF ($2,995); URSA Mini 4K PL ($3,495); URSA Mini 4.6K EF ($4,995); and URSA Mini 4.6K PL ($5,495). The Canon EOS C300 Mark II is an update to the popular C300 and is targeted at cinema, documentary and event shooters. The C300 Mark II contains a new 8.85-megapixel Super 35mm CMOS sensor, new Dual DIGIC DV 5 processors and a new Canon XF-AVC codec that allows you to record 10-bit, 4:2:2 4K files onboard without an external recorder, and captures up to 15 stops of latitude. The Mark II’s improved sensor has twice the readout speed of the C300, which reduces rolling-shutter artifacts. Canon has also implemented a new version of Dual Pixel AF that expands the autofocus area to 80% vertically and 80% horizontally. The C300 Mark II is offered with either an EF- or a PL-mount and will be available in September 2015 with an MSRP of $20,000. Contact: Canon U.S.A. Inc., www.usa.canon.com.

Released in 2002, the Panasonic DVX100 was a classic indie film camcorder and one of the first to offer 24p capture. In 2015, Panasonic is releasing the AG-DVX200 4K large-sensor camcorder that offers high-end features like 4K/60p recording, a 13X optical zoom and a V-Log L gamma curve (12 stops of latitude, target). With its 4/3-inch sensor, the DVX200 can deliver cinematic shallow depth of field and a wide field of view. The DVX200 will be optimized for 4K/HD production and shares the VariCam’s characteristics of filmic tonality and colorimetry, making it an ideal B-camera for Panasonic’s flagship VariCam 35 camera. The DVX200 will be available in Fall 2015, with a suggested list price under $5,000. Contact: Panasonic, shop.panasonic.com.

At NAB 2015, Adobe updated all of the professional video apps for its Creative Cloud. For Premiere Pro, the new Lumetri Color Panel gives you a new color toolset using familiar sliders and controls, as well as a new Lumetri 3-way color corrector. The new Face Tracker in After Effects lets you track faces with control over the level of tracking detail. The coolest new feature to CC 2015 is Character Animator, which lets you animate characters you’ve created in Photoshop or Illustrator by tracking your movements from a webcam. Currently in development, Project Candy is an iOS app that lets you capture light and color dynamics, and save them as Looks to be used in your Premiere Clip or Pro timelines. Creative Cloud subscription plans vary, but are generally $49.99/month for individuals. Contact: Adobe, www.adobe.com.
